New Documentation Requirements for Bangladesh August 2014

Please be advised that the National Board of Revenue in Bangladesh has advised that effective immediately the following details are needed for all cargo delivering to Bangladesh. This includes Container, Ro-Ro, Bulk and Energy vessels.

  1. The following detail is required for consignees:

    If the consignee or notify party is a Freight Forwarder or NVOCC a 9 digit AIN is required.
    (Agent Identification Number)

    If the consignee or notify party is a Bank or BCO a 11 digit BIN is required
    (Business Identification Number)

    When the consignee is TO ORDER;

    TO ORDER : AIN & BIN are not required.
    TO ORDER OF BANK : AIN & BIN are not required.
    TO ORDER OF SHIPPER : AIN & BIN are not required.
    TO ORDER OF AAA Company : If "AAA" is a Freight Forwarder or NVOCC then an AIN is required.
      : If "AAA" is a BCO then a BIN is required.
    TO ORDER OF BBB Bank : BIN is required.
  2. A valid 6 digit Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Code is required. For further information regarding H.S. Codes please refer to the following link:
  3. Complete detailed commodity description. General commodity names such as auto parts, freight all kinds, etc. will not be acceptable
  4. In the case of hazardous cargo, the chemical name, class, and UN number are required.
