IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code) Amendment 35 Policy

Effective November 1, 2011:

All DG applications and shipments tendered to "K" Line on, or after November 1st must be compliant with the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Amendment 35).

Any application/shipment prepared in accordance with Amendment 34 will be declined by "K" Line after October 31, 2011.

Background:

Year 2011 has been a “transition year” in which the International Maritime Organization
(IMO) authorized use of either Amendment 34 or 35. According to IMO, Amendment 35 officially comes into force on January 1, 2012.
In order for "K" Line to comply with enforcement of Amendment 35, the implementation date must be set as November 1, 2011 due to transit times, transshipments and vessel arrival dates.

DG Loading Plans / Blocking and Bracing:

We would like to take this opportunity to stress that special attention and care must be taken when loading and securing dangerous goods into "K" Line containers. Proper blocking and bracing that can sustain the affects of each mode of transport (road, rail, ocean) is critical for safe and damage free transportation.
