Changes to Export Documentation Requirements

November 18, 2013

In order to comply with the strengthening customs agency requirements of countries around the world, we will require the following information on Shipment Instructions for all exports from the USA and Canada:

The World Trade Organization has classified all commodities with a number. This number is called a Harmonized Schedule code and ranges from six to 12 digits, depending on the country. However, the first six digits of this number are generally uniform throughout the world.

Please be advised that H.S. codes are mandatory for the following countries:
France, Germany, Italy, Malaysia and Spain

The H.S. code is required to obtain AES / ITN information so it would be helpful if shippers and forwarders would also provide the H.S. code on all shipping instructions whenever possible, regardless of the destination.

For further information regarding H.S. Codes please refer to the following link:

This requirement will become effective immediately. We apologize for any inconvenience this short notice may cause, and we do appreciate your efforts to comply.
